What Top Candidates Want to See in a Job Posting

Whether you work for a global powerhouse or small, independent business, the job description you post can say a lot about your company’s culture, expectations and positioning in your industry. Throughout this workshop you’ll learn how to craft clear, concise job descriptions and compelling company profiles that stand out amongst the multitude of posting out there, while staying true to your company’s brand identity.
Participants are also encouraged to bring in a current job posting and will receive one-on-one guidance on how to make it more appealing to top candidates using the principles discussed during the workshop.
The investment for this pre-conference workshop is $295 and space is limited to only 40 participants. Reserve your spot today by adding it to your registration.

Concurrent Session #1:
Breaking the Mold - Changing Your Talent Sourcing Strategy
In a specialized industry like commercial real estate, hiring managers automatically assume you need industry experience to succeed. Recruiting based on the same rigid criteria leads to the same pool of candidates. And with fierce competition for top talent, the talent pool gets smaller and smaller making hitting recruitment targets very difficult.
To continually reinforce our industry-leading position, Colliers needs to hire the best candidates and develop them into great advisors. In 2014, Colliers launched a cutting-edge program that puts people on the track to becoming high-achieving real estate advisors.
Since its inception, we have shifted our recruitment strategy to focus on hiring new types of candidates from diverse backgrounds including new graduates and sales professionals from other industries, which would not have been considered in the past. The program started as a pilot of six individuals, and has now grown into a North America-wide initiative with over 130 participants. In terms of production, Advisor Development Program participants and graduates have completed over 990 deals worth over $6 million.Key takeaways:
● Building the business case
● Designing a flexible and scalable program
● Tracking success
Concurrent Session #2:
How to Build a Rockstar Talent Pipeline
“I am not interested in a powerful strategic recruiting approach” ~ said no organization ever!
Back to reality… when the need to acquire talent arises, organizations set out to recruit and retain the best, however most organizations do not have a well-orchestrated talent pipeline strategy. Building a talent pipeline should no longer be reserved for succession planning.
Simply put, Talent Pipelining is building trusted relationships with passive talent for future needs and should fully support and align with the company strategy. Most often, the best candidates are employed, therefore not actively looking or perusing your website, social media channels or job boards. As a result, it’s unlikely your organization is on their radar.
A pipeline approach allows your TA team the opportunity to make contact with passive talent without the need to sell an immediate job. Instead, conversations take place and trust is slowly built.
Let’s get real, developing a talent pipeline is not quick fix or short term strategy and will require a mega shift from reactive (aka post and pray) to proactive recruiting.
In this 45-minute session, we’ll review 3 key elements to building a robust pipeline: Fostering relationships, “old school” power of connection and a winning candidate experience!

I will share many of the keys to my success during my workshop - don’t miss it!Key takeaways:
● Understand the reasons a talented/successful/happy person would leave to join your organization or your client’s organization
● How to educate your hiring manager and ensure that the deals are closed with limited chance of falling off
Concurrent Session #2:
Starting from Scratch: How to Build Sourcing Into Your Hiring Strategy
Most people aren't actively looking for a new role, but ~73% are open to hearing about new opportunities. Engaging with these folks can open up a whole new world of talent, but between writing job postings, screening and interviewing applicants, and closing candidates how do you find time for sourcing? And if Boolean strings sounds more like a computer algorithm than a search strategy you know how to leverage, how do you even get started?
In this session you'll learn how to source and engage with passive candidates and how to track your results so you can iterate and improve over time. You'll also learn how to measure your success and fully understand the value sourcing can add to your organization. Finally, you'll learn how you can take it to the next level and build a sourcing team.Key takeaways:
● Practical sourcing strategies you can start using now
● Tips for writing compelling emails to engage with candidates once you've found them
● How to build a successful sourcing team and how to measure the value sourcing brings to your organization
